We purchase kadhai by weight. We set the price according to weight, size and riveting detail. Some kadhai stand out as exceptional which we classify as premium. Select and collect from Cranbourne nr Melbourne.

Kadhai Background Story

Our Indian kadhai or cooking pots were originally used to cook large quantities of food at festivals and weddings or at the roadside where vendors sell their street food. A fire is lit underneath and foods are simmered or deep fried. When no longer suitable for cooking, they can be repurposed as a very special and unique outdoor fire pit.

They are handcrafted by nomadic Indian traders and each has characteristics as individual as the person who created it. No two kadhai are the same.

We purchase these kadhai ethically from Rajasthan India. The individual age is unknown, they can be up to 100 years old. They all bear the patina of years of previous use and understandably supply is limited.

We travel to India to select kadhai which are of a good thickness with solid bases. We would not sell anything we would not be happy to receive ourselves.

Prices include a stand and grate to fit your chosen kadhai. We have some BBQ grills which will fit some kadhai and are available on request.

Delivery Quote

• Due to the size and weight, we need to ship kadhai on a pallet. The shipping calculator on the website will not give an accurate quote

• It’s usually cheaper to deliver to a local depot. They call when it arrives and you have 6 business days to collect without incurring storage fees. If this is an option for you, please let us know. A trailer or ute would be required to pick up larger fire pits
• Delivery to a business address is generally cheaper than delivery to a residential address.
• Please include your mobile number in your email as sometimes our reply finds your junk mail.

Kadai can be used in other ways:

• • They can be filled with ice and used a a drinks cooler
  • As a very unusual planter. Bright green foliage contrasts beautifully against the iron.
  • To store firewood.
  • Fill with water and plants to create a beautiful water feature. Please note the inside will need to be sealed if it’s to be used for this purpose.
